Audi RS6 Avant and RS6 Performance review - MPG and running costs

Audi’s most powerful, fastest estate car may lack ultimate involvement and dynamics, but it’s still one of the best in its class.

MPG and Running Costs

With the V8’s clever cylinder on demand technology replenishing the RS6 Avant’s 75-litre fuel tank isn’t the repetitive event you might imagine. On a run it will return an mpg figure in the high twenties, giving you a 300+ mile range. However, start enjoying some of the 552bhp and that figure will drop to high teens. Go further with the throttle and you’ll just scrape double figures. Head on track and with determination you could see a comedy figure of around 2mpg.

Those 20-inch tyres won’t be cheap to replace, and the standard iron disks and pads will only take so much abuse. Even the £9375 optional ceramic stoppers will need attention if you exploit every strand of the RS6’s performance.
