Brabus iBusiness: the 219mph S-class limo

The Brabus iBusiness is a gadget-filled, 800bhp Mercedes Benz S-class that hits 219mph

Brabus has updated its 788bhp iBusiness Mercedes S-class-based saloon to incorporate the second generation of Apple’s iPad. Try evo Magazine’s latest iPad issues here Up to two of the slim-line tablet computers can be integrated into the rear compartment of the bespoke limo and they are wirelessly connected to a Mini Mac hidden in a specially built draw in the rear parcel shelf. A 64GB iPod Touch can also be specified to store over 14,000 songs. Brabus has developed its own iPad app for the iBusiness. It allows rear seat passengers to control all functions of the Mercedes infotainment system, such as the radio, navigation and telephone. DVDs and digital television can be viewed from an electrically deployed 15in widescreen, which is integrated into the leather headliner, or from the two monitors built into the front seat headrests. Full internet connectivity is guaranteed by UMTS and HDSPA connections. The new iPad’s integrated camera means passengers will be able to video conference on the move. Of more interest to us, however, is the engine, and in typical Brabus style it’s an absolute monster. The iBusiness is powered by a 6.0-litre twin-turbo V12, developing 788bhp and (an electronically limited!) 847lb ft of torque. This massive output is enough to send the two-ton-plus Brabus from 0-62mph in 3.9sec and onto a limited top speed of 219mph. What that feels like from the back seat, we daren’t imagine. The interior also benefits from a complete overhaul. Swathes of Brabus leather and Alcantara cover almost everything. Even the floor mats are made of leather. The optional ‘Yachting’ wood trim package gives the interior a feel ‘reminiscent of classic Italian sport boats’, apparently. Due to the bespoke nature of Brabus vehicles, prices are strictly on request. The iBusiness package is available for installation in any current S-Class, although you will need a V12 S600 or S65 AMG to take advantage of the 800bhp performance upgrades.
