Facelift for Range Rover Sport and Land Rover Discovery

Land Rover has announced a mid-term facelift for the Range Rover Sport and Land Rover Discovery, with the big news being greener diesel engines

Land Rover has announced a package of mid-term revisions for the Range Rover Sport and Discovery.

Highlights are more power and lower emissions. The higher-powered 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine sees its output upped to 254bhp (from 243bhp). At the same time, emissions of the less powerful 209bhp diesel engine have been cut thanks to the arrival of a new eight-speed automatic transmission, meaning that – when so equipped - both the Disco and Range Rover Sport now sneak under the 225g/km barrier, saving buyers £185 in road tax.

The 5.0-litre supercharged V8 petrol engine in the Range Rover Sport continues unchanged.

Other news includes the arrival of a new 7-inch touch screen system with optional ‘dual view’ to allow the driver to watch navigation instructions while the passenger watches a DVD on the same screen. The premium audio system has also been upgraded to allow buyers to specify a whopping 825 watts of audio power if they opt for the 17-speaker Harmon Kardon LOGIC 7.

Prices have also gone up, with the Discovery now starting at £37,995 – an increase of £1250 over the previous car. The Range Rover Sport now starts at £48,795 – an £800 hike.
