New Alpine A110 S Enstone Edition: F1-inspired special breaks cover

Yet another Alpine A110 special edition has been revealed, this time based on the sharper S version with bespoke carbonfibre trim

Alpine is continuing its recent flurry of A110 special editions with a limited-run version of the A110 S, which celebrates the firm’s Enstone-based Formula 1 team. Aptly named the A110 S Enstone Edition, the new model goes on sale this month priced from €85,000 (c£73,000) and joins the current A110 San Remo and A110 R Le Mans editions as another low-volume design-led variant.

There’s little to distinguish the special edition’s exterior, save for two bespoke matte grey paint colours and a matte black roof, which features a subtle union jack motif on its surface. The A110 S’s standard 18-inch alloys feature, only this time with an all-black finish without the base car’s diamond-cut accents.

The Formula 1 link is evident inside, with a smattering of bespoke carbonfibre elements produced at the Alpine team’s Enstone factory. The rest of the cabin coincides with the focused motorsport theme, with black microfibre trim covering main touchpoints such as the seats, steering wheel, door cards and dashboard. A numbered plaque beneath the centre console denotes the build number of each Enstone Edition, each of which will be delivered with a certificate of authenticity from the Enstone factory.

Just 300 Enstone Editions will be produced, each to the same mechanical specification as the standard A110 S. Its 1.8-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine develops 296bhp and 251lb ft of torque, sent to the rear wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox. Sprinting from 0-62mph in 4.2sec, the Enstone Edition will run on to a 171mph top speed when fitted with the optional aero kit available with the regular A110 S.

It’s highly unlikely that the new carbonfibre trims will meaningfully reduce the A110 S’s 1114kg kerb weight, and the base car’s suspension tune – with its 4mm lower ride height, 100 per cent stiffer anti-roll bars, 50 per cent stiffer springs and recalibrated dampers – is unchanged, too.
